Janna, Mock interview at BHP

This was an experience and I am glad we are made to do this for the class. I learned so much from it.
My interview started off well because I already knew the person who was interviewing me. I sat with him at lunch three days a week for the past month and a half. He asked me to tell a little about myself and then asked some standard questions such as strengths and weaknesses and describe myself using adjectives. The harder question was about differentiated instruction and how I would use that to promote learning. Another hard question for me was how would I promote rigor in the classroom.
After the interview we talked things over. His main advice was to give even longer more detailed answers and to play up myself more, not just what I know. He said that with the questions about differentiated instruction I answered some of what that includes but I did not touch on all parts. We talked about expectations vs. rigor. That question stumped me the most. He also told me that my answer to classroom management made it seem like I have never encountered very difficult situations in the classroom (which I haven't). He then gave me examples of poor classroom management answers and told me to stay away from those types of answers.
We then went over my resume and talked about what areas I should build up more and other ways to organize it. This was extremely helpful. He told me about what they tend to look for in resumes such as certain bold words or descriptions under teaching experience. He told me not to worry about fitting it all on one page.
Overall he said he really like some of my answers and things I highlighted and that some of my other answers will improve once I gain more experience in student teaching.
